Brexiteers don’t want you to learn this simple trick

A guest post from #lighterfluidsnowflake

My dear fellow Remaindered,
It’s been a week now.

Are you ready to talk yet?

The lynchpin of their security; the very cornerstone of their shared prosperity and comfort had been removed; their very world had been lost. Most simple folk brought up in the socialist paradise feared that they would no longer be able to find food now that the great man had gone. Throughout his long and productive life of service to others, Comrade Stalin had done much to promote ever-increasing annual bumper crops, to increase longevity and to raise the material standards of living and personal freedoms of his countrymen. His lesser helpers had supported his genius in more modest ways: first by denouncing, then shunning, next disemploying and finally resettling out East the doubters, saboteurs and reactionaries whose lies about the results, methods and even the very logic of Scientific Socialism itself had done so much to harm the People’s Cause. And where are they now, those know-nothing backsliders and revanchists? Who knows? Not leading a bright new future for Russia and the world, I know that for sure.

How much worse do we suffer, now that the Little Englanders claim that Britain must leave the European Union because of a simple conjuring trick of arithmetic?
We have lost our home, and no-one in history can ever imagine our pain: they can literally have no idea how hard this feels for us.

The plucky David (he’s in a story from a book called the Bible; Google it) of Remain with nothing more going for him than all the main political parties, the BBC, Sky and ITV; all of academia; the trades unions and the leadership and creative folk of the subsidized arts; the education system; the National Church and all the nonconformists, the most thoughtful and talented of celebrities, Britain’s tiny and beleaguered Muslim population, J.K. bloody Rowling ffs!, all EU funded institutions, EU politicians and officials of the Commission and Parliament, the President of the United States and philanthropist George Soros, along with that helpful taxpayer funded leaflet from the UK Executive (the so-called ‘UK Government’);  the Times, the Guardian, the Independent and the Mirror somehow managed to defeat the Goliath of Leave by the sheer persuasive force of love. And now Goliath: that giant pillar of the entrenched establishment with four national newspapers; the immensely rich and influential UKIP with its huge network of paid agents and saboteurs controlling every institution in the land and 17,410,742 racists is trying to steal our moral victory from us by the petty lawyer’s trick of treating a simple head count as in some way binding.

It’s easy to see how this has come about. The evil and ignorant dross of these islands (the British working classes that have gone from the salt to the scum of the earth during two generations of New Left ascendancy) have been herded into the polling booths by fear and bigotry. Do you see what happens when people don’t eat enough sun-dried tomatoes and capers and instead gorge on chicken nuggets, pizza and cake? They should definitely stop eating cake.
What kind of person actually fears the importation of a million people per year from the most messed-up region of the world?
What can you call the folk who actually fear an ideology that preaches world conquest, the slaughter of the Jews and the utter subjection of women but ‘Nazi’? And they just don’t seem to pay care any more when you call them that.

How in Gaia’s name did that happen?

Progressive ideas have only achieved the smallest toehold in the reactionary world of education for little more than 50 years, so it is little wonder that so many products of 11 (and now 13) years of compulsory state education ignored all the wisdom and moral goodness of their betters and voted instead with fear. Perhaps after another 50 years working in university education departments and dominating the teacher training colleges, we shall produce a majority of citizens who can’t even.

But do not fear for too long, my brothers, sisters, siblings and other-kin because you cannot stop Progress.

It looks possible that the wiser heads in the Tory party will prevail and Britain will achieve a composite relationship with the EU through a variety of amended arrangements with the EEA, the EFTA and their connected codicils, sub-codicils and layered competences. After all, what is the Acquis Communautaire if not crystal clear? Won’t that be nice?

But best of all for the Progressive community in general and the European Movement in particular is just how out of touch the Brexiteers are. They remain so utterly ignorant of the social and economic changes that have swept through these beloved European islands of ours that they don’t know what is about to hit them.

Soon, so very soon, the long-suffering masses will arise.

They will rise from all the coal mines and climb into the sunlight. They will down tools in the huge, grim factories  in which they toil across the length and breadth of Britain, step away from the clattering loom and alight from the train's footplate and join with their Muslim neighbours (may their tribe increase) and alongside the trans-fatty-fluid and other allies will tear down the soot-blackened palaces of the mighty and insist that their children be sent to schools where they will receive educations every bit as good as those provided at Eton and Harrow.

Who knows, comrades; next year in Caracas perhaps?

Because you can’t. Stop. Progress.

What didn’t just happen?

A week ago was the eve of the UK’s round of the European Parliamentary elections. Here’s what didn’t happen next.

Trooper Lee Rigby did not cast a ballot; nor did any of the 52 Londoners murdered on 7/7 who might have been entitled to vote. But perhaps some people inside and outside our sophisticated multicultural capital city remembered those events and did something a little…off while remembering them, despite being told that doing something a little off might eventually bring violence to Britain’s streets. Join the queue.
The unemployed unknowingly and innocently displaced by cheap immigrant labour did not strike a blow for serious immigration reform, but perhaps some of them noticed not being picked for the factory job or the cleaning position at the motel and decided to do something probably ineffective about it.
The nation’s patriots did not rise up as one to demand an end to the UK’s membership of the EU. In fact a majority of those who voted at all did so for parties committed to staying in the EU and which notionally offer instead thorough, deep and lasting reform of EU institutions to the betterment of everyday life and international prestige for Britain, unlikely as it seems. But, hey: people still buy lottery tickets every week despite the odds against ever winning a large sum. But voting for political parties is rarely the exercise of fine-tuned choice: parties are portfolios of interests so diverse as to make cable TV bundling seem like pick ‘n mix by comparison. But some folk may have noticed that the peace and plenty (and the banishment of right-wing nationalism often predicted if the European Project does not roll on unchecked) that the EEC, EC, EU’s enthusiasts promised us are not too obvious today. Maybe some Britons remembered those promises and threats and did…something else. Rather like lots of other Europeans with whose parties our masters would prefer UKIP not to associate because pan-European political alliances are a bad thing – did you notice that?

Oh, and after three days of editorial postmortems it doesn’t seem that a significant part of the British electorate has given the three parties with a combined age of 400 +years much reason to reflect, remember, and change their ways.

Other things that did not happen that you might like to remember sometime in 2015:

Overall government debt did not go down. Pension funding did not increase for most people. Savers still aren’t getting much return for investing in our banks. The two million or so baseline unemployed figure did not shrink noticeably. Britain’s streets and housing estates did not become visibly safer or more peaceful. Nor did the parts of Europe where Britons visit to trade and study. Educational standards did not rise nor, as far as I can see, did the efficiency and cleanliness of our hospitals, the nutrition provided for the children of this country or the care for its pensioners, though I may have missed some spectacular initiatives. Our jurisprudence did not become simpler nor justice easier to access, nor did convicted criminals show much sign of seeing the error of their ways. Our mobile phone and other internet services might have become cheaper and better but, well, who do we have to thank for that? Not, I think, any of the institutions in charge of our roads or the parties who have governed them for decades.

You could argue that none of the trivia in the above paragraph is the direct or even indirect responsibility of the EU and its institutions… But if the EU is so remote from our daily lives, what’s the point of being in the EU at all?

Notice. Remember. 2015.

For want of a nail

GC Cooper kindly points out in a comment below that the awesome EU Referendum blog has done the maths on where UKIP (plus the similarly anti-EU and anti-immigration but with Left-wing economic policies BNP) may have prevented Tories from getting an absolute majority in the Commons.

Perhaps my fellow 'Kippers' foot calluses were worth something somewhere in our once-proud province.

Castle City, alas, was not such a seat, where Mister Cameron's parachutist did alright for himself.

Red Telegraph: Where's Malcolm X?

The formerly reliable Telegraph seems to be acting in a Soviet style by deleting the existence of a well-known national party of freedom, self-government and a smaller and more efficient State.

Here's
The Telegraph's election results by party, votes cast, percentage share, etc.

And here's the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation's fancier equivalent.

Look who's missing from The 'graph!

At this rate, I'm going to have to drag more food, supplies and ammunition downstairs and shelter in the basement of my modest water fluoridation plant with my Carol Verderman photo album and wait for
Milla Jovovich to deal with the Cameroons and Cleggies for me.

Oh, and which nationally-known politician does that metal-capped and no doubt copper-bottomed, cast-iron scientist resemble, bless him?

VC Day

My previous post threw up a question that I’d like to answer in a bit of detail.

Anonymous Confused, Angus said...

Having always been a natural Tory supporter and living in Scotland (not a nice position to be in) I'm in a quandary. The Angus constituency should be a straight fight between the SNP and the Conservatives. Normally, it would be a no-brainer. But I'm as pissed off as everyone else with Cameron and had intended voting UKIP. Should I vote UKIP to help their share of the vote or go for the Tories to get the Fife f*$@wit out of power? If a Lib-Lab coalition delivers PR, what would be the point in future of holding centre-right or right wing views?

There are lots of ways by which natural Tory voters can respond to Cameron’s apostasy, and a UKIP vote is only one of them: one, of course, I hope that you’ll take.

If you look at the Peter Hitchens’ blog here you’ll see that he expounds the theory that the Tory party is irredeemably broken and corrupt and needs destroying so conservatives can change their allegiances to form some kind of party or party coalition. This could win power and use it to reverse the Leftwards ratchet effect of all postwar governments bar one (in places), especially in the social sphere.

Now I’m not sure whether C & U P’s utter destruction is the only answer, though I’m mortally certain that a thorough scourging is needed and a new Lib Lab pact should do that. Then the Tories might have a palace coup and throw out Cameron and all the post-Howard Lefty wimpishness and offer something different and identifiably conservative to which the old base might flock along with some of the working class Tories on whom Churchill and Thatcher depended when the Oxbridge toffs and the cricket club boys wimped out and went all appeasy and Europhile respectively.

But by then - say three years or so into a Lib Lab pact that gets PR through - such a scourging would not only help the new Tories, but also any non-Conservative party offering patriotic, traditionalist, anti Big State solutions for those people for whom the word ‘Conservative’ is anathema could gain seats or add more seats to Buckingham? Castle City? Somewhere in Gloucestershire? I think that UKIP could be, or could form the kernel of, a new party whose natural coalition partners would be a reformed C & U P and maybe the Unionists.

Call it the Freedom Party, or Family, or just plain United Kingdom Party.

On the other hand, a Cameron-led Tory majority after May 6th would likely:

A) not be much different from New Labour anyway, and therefore,

B) not even start to fix the wrecked economy. It would also be in office when the country changes from merely heading south and being third-rate to Southern Hemisphere/Third World economically and politically, such as having to deal with brown out and blackouts due to lack of energy investment, and the insupportable cost of having to continue to pay our VE Day generation their government final salary pensions from funds (where they are funded at all!) with the Stock Market in the cellar at a time during Obama’s second term when the US economy is being turned over to full-scale industrial sandal production fuelled by the cheap, clean and sustainable use of lentil bakes.

I can’t see the Germans having enough cash or any will at all to bail us out then, and the word ‘Conservative’ would be mud for more than a single generation, like the Tories after the Jacobite rebellion of 1715-1716

Bottom line, Anonymous Confused, Angus, is that I believe that, as empty threats go, Cameron’s Send me to Downing Street or you’ll get another Leftie Big State Tax-troughing politically correct federast Liverpool-on-Thamesis right down there with “Drop the gun, copper, or the paedophile gets it.”

V

Quiz.

Does the phrase two fingers mean:

A) A generous measure of whiskey,

B) A chap’s bare minimum service level agreement obligation for a first date with an Essex girl, or

C) A conservative’s bare minimum obligation to render unto Caesar this election time?

Having finally sneaked into the fray with my Dawn Chorus leafleting campaign in Castle City, I have to say that C) is definitely what I have to keep in mind as my arthritis and tendonitis accompany me by riding shotgun and walking point as I schlep along the terraces and through the registered social housing estates and up the garden paths of Castle City’s slumbering voters.

Both my advancing years and my bladder have decided that I shall perform my democratic chores first thing in the Ayem, and they have been joined by my cowardice and therefore unwillingness to meet the aggrieved and time-wasting fascists of the establishment parties as I put UKIP’s glossy purple election addresses through the deadly letterboxes of my neighbourhood.

I recall in my youth canvassing and leafleting for the Tories, and how incandescently worked up some of the (usually female) leftie residents would take every opportunity to delay and interrupt us in our free exercise of persuasion by going ballistically bonkers in the middle of the street at some imagined or concocted offence – just as they had learned to do at student union meetings when any conservative said anything at all. This kind of pseudo-insanity is not only universal in any public political event containing patriots and conservatives these days, it is also par for the course and legally enforced via ‘hate’ legislation and in police practices as the ‘authorities’ hassle the enemies of the politically correct dispensation that is New Labour’s Gramscian gift to the nation formerly known as Britain.

Hence the early starts. Like Woody Allen’s Russian soldier in Love and Death, I don’t have a yellow stripe right down my back: it goes across.

********

I didn’t watch the so-called leaders’ debate on television this week because after all those 5.45 AM starts followed by a full day’s work I have better things to do with my evening than watching three identikit social liberals discussing the fine details of those rare variations in their plans to sacrifice the last surviving morsels of our self-government to the EU while ignoring the colossal and metastising public debt to which their ‘caring’ statist consensus has delivered the wealth creation that would have supported my daughter’s dreams and ambitions.

Tweedledum, Tweedledee and Number Three may still seem to some like the leaders of distinct political parties, but they are in fact little more than three children in an upstairs play room, squabbling over a few toys and some of Mummy’s old clothes while elsewhere in the house their parents are deciding whether to sell the house to those nice Chinese neighbours and rent it back, or to just ignore the final demands on all the bills and try to apply for another credit card to max out, whilst ignoring the large gangs of hooligans looking meaningfully in through the downstairs windows as they plan to share out the household goods between them.

The faithful family guard dog hasn’t been decently fed or had his health properly cared for in a long while either, and is running on his happy memories of the esteem in which his master and mistress formerly held him.

And so the BBC and other mainstream media and their pals big up Clone Number Three (banana-coloured tie) as the leader of the only Left-wing party that the non-Marxist middle class will trust for a generation, as if his plans to eventually end our nuclear deterrent just as Iran seems sure to get The Bomb were not worth mentioning.

They’re all alien invaders in our body politic, pretending to be British and pretending to be democrats.

Anyone still wonder why I want to raise a Harvey Smith to the whole rotten lot of them?

We won’t get an outright victory this time, but in a guerilla war when the Establishment doesn’t win, it loses. A hung parliament is a victory for none of the above, and thus it is that I’m willing to risk my first and second fingers as I push something shiny and purple through the various letterbox booby traps ( the guillotine, the lobster pot, the dog) of Castle City.

Shameless UKIP Plug Number One.

Though I joined UKIP mostly to punish the Tories in the hope of a renewal and realignment of the non-totalitarian Right which this chap is sure that we need despite his disdain for UKIP, the party has some policies which I think might actually improve everyday life for most of us here in Britain.

Remember that as a plan?

Here they are on benefits.

Child Benefit, the Child Trust Fund, Child Tax Credits and the Education Maintenance Allowance should be merged into an enhanced Child Benefit payable for each of the first three children in each family.

Ending the socially corrosive and immoral practice of baby-breeding for benefits after the third child is just like a dream come true for me (except, of course, without all the lesbians.)

Worth a try, I think.

Tea break

My regiment leaves at dawn.

Well, not quite.

There’s going to be a general election by 3rd June (unless the Government cheats, which is always possible.)

I started this blog way back when in April 2008 intending to post spoofs and jokes about life, the universe and everything, and thus prove worldwide how clever I was.

That was Joke Number One.

Then nothing very much till that Autumn when our national and the Anglosphere in general’s obvious bankruptcy was made internationally plain. That would be Joke Number Two.

Then the biggest joke of all, the United States electorate blithely elected to the office of President an Allinskyite Marxist, a lifelong willing associate of terrorists, who may not even be entitled to the office because of his disputed and possibly foreign nationality. He certainly isn’t qualified for the job.

He and his comrades and a media corrupt and infiltrated – indeed some would say owned body and soul – by the hard Left have just this week managed to say to Hell with the Constitutional checks and balances and hence with America’s unique founding system of legally-enforceable individual and states’ rights in pursuit of State-controlled ‘healthcare,’ – and all this almost certainly with the long-term intention of saying to Hell with the Constitutional checks and balances and hence with America’s unique founding system of legally-enforceable individual and states’ rights.

And so in all likelihood the US of A is on its way to welfare statehood and we can forget about the priceless gift to the world of a brave and wealthy guarantor of democracy and economic freedom against the world’s tyrants and totalitarianism, despite all that the gallant Tea Party movement has said and done. Corporate power, in all its manifestations, seems to be set against individuals and families in the homeland of freedom.

What hope is there, then, for Britain?

Well, in the last two or three weeks I’ve heard an impeccably liberal Briton describe her shouting at the radio when the notion was raised that young children can’t know when their murderous crimes are evil as compared with merely punishably naughty. I’ve heard a similarly liberal individual proffer the opinion that open borders for welfare benefits just can’t work – except to the unaffordable cost to our country. I’ve seen someone who claimed to have voted Labour all his life shouting at a Labour leafletter that he’s voting for none of them, they’re all thieves, and that he wanted his money back.

Tea Party UK?

Is it enough? Will anything ever be enough to overcome the climate of big-state, high-taxation, anti-freedom propaganda and anti-patriotism and belief that exists in our homeland?

Probably not, but we can all do: nothing; less than at present; the same as now; or more to turn the tide against our civilisation.

So I’m going to do more.

Entirely new motion; for action; not words.

I’m off to work for the UK Independence Party for the run-up to the General Election, on the logic that any mainstream party at all will spend most of its energies protecting and running ( and ‘reforming’) the anarcho-tyranny that the Gramscians and lacklustre ‘Conservative’ administrations have bought us to.

Only by ostentatiously large votes for parties not LibLabCon will show to the defeated, or minority administration MPs and their parties that we don’t like what they have to offer and that we want something other than the internationalist, anti-monarchist, cradle-to-grave State-run life of European welfare statism that is all they have until stronger and self-confident powers with distinct and concrete beliefs take it all away from us anyway.

A small Tory win (and God forbid a large one led by Cameron) would mean all the hopes for lower taxes and fewer bureaucrats, for justice and protected borders and nationhood being ignored and Tory promises whittled away with gestures and posing and futile ‘initiatives’ and schemes and new quangos. The Tory Left would interpret any electoral success as vindication of their Socialism with nicer suits and pale blue ties, and any reckoning with the Hard Left would be put off for half a generation or more (if it’s even possible by then).

This must not be allowed and for me, this means supporting UKIP, which for all its faults and the obviously frail humanity of its members is a non-totalitarian party of the Right closest to the Thatcher-led Conservative Party of my youth.

Even when ‘good men’ do something, it may not be enough. We don’t have to win this one or any of them. History won’t guarantee anything but the survival of viruses, cockroaches and folk musicians. But tyranny must not be allowed to win by default.

Is there any hope?

Always.

In a separate development I’ve recently reconverted back to the Christian faith of my family, and though this says nothing much about my politics or the country, the fact that every day I hang a replica of a device for torture and murder around my neck as a sign that I’m optimistic about humanity and the future…probably says something about my state of mind, at most.

This involves some small time spent reading and praying and the expenditure of a lot of energy in not getting all sarcastic about the evil or negligent swine who continue to louse up our world and our country when I meet them or read about them. Also, as you may have noticed, at first it's cut down on my blogging time.

And now I’ve got to off to knock on doors to try and turn some of those impeccably Left-liberal and lifelong Labour voters’ minds to the idea of a large protest vote unequivocally against the LibLabCon that grew our state and shrank our country is a good idea so that one day, perhaps, the mainstream politicians may wake up, smell the tea and offer us our country and some of our money back. Which means little time for blogging – if any – for a few weeks until the battle’s lost and won.

I may pop up from time to time (who knows?) to post up ‘ideas that work’ pieces from knowledge gleaned from the people themselves on the doorsteps, or to rant about this or that to get something off my chest, but really my friends if I’ve not persuaded you on-line by now that there is an alternative (!) to the corrupt Tories, then what more can I do this side of some crook standing and waving a piece of paper on the doorstep of Number Ten?

When the flood gates of the BBC’s statist and collectivist propaganda have finally opened unrestrained propaganda and all we can hear is the onrushing tsunami of the endlessly repeated lie in most newspapers and on almost all the broadcast media that lower taxes and confident nationhood will only ‘harm the poor’ , then other than the Internet pretty much the only place to get the truth over is face to face with the British people themselves. After the deluge, me.

So, thanks for all the links and all the comments (most of them) and I’ll see you all - or not as you choose - when the hurly-burly’s done.

Good luck.

God save the Queen.

Basic instincts

I suppose that the logic - if that’s not too strong a word - to David Cameron’s expulsion of all hitherto existing conservative principles from his election pledges and hints and retractions; his publicity, public speeches and no doubt his table talk, is that if he does so and squats on the middle ground ( “middle” here taking as meaning large State; large tax, anti-patriotic and abandoning any notion of free will and personal responsibility from all aspects of law-making, operating the courts and in welfare spending) is that if he doesn’t EXACTLY resemble yet another metrosexual economic dirigiste and a cultural and moral relativist who just loves to feminise or infantilise every aspect of British life he can get his legislative hands on (about 25% given the EU’s silent imperium): but one dressed in a nicer suit, he will be called horrible names such as, variously:

racist, skinflint, advocate of child labour, militarist, Little Englander, fascist, grinder of the face of the poor, capitalist running-dog lackey, homophobic, sexist, anti-intellectual….

Hey, some of that looks a lot of fun…

Terrible electoral result are supposed to follow as the good people of Britain rise up in their deeply held and universally shard hatred of racists, skinflints, advocates of child labour, militarists, Little Englanders, etc, etc, ad nauseam world without end, Amen.
So you fake it till you make it, and then fake it some more.

It’s a long shot professor, but just might work.

Let’s see how well it does work, shall we children?

Here’s some I made earlier:

So Britain’s military reputation lies in tatters; tatters camouflaged by our economic prostration and our social and moral decline, and still somehow the party of the nation-state; of defence; of economic competence; of traditional values and a coherent society manages to raise its head above Labour as of 26 February 2010 by a massively respectable 2 percentage points which, I’m sure the BBC’s psephologists will be quick to point, is within the usual margin of error.

In response, Cameron goes full retard
here in The Telegraph:

Every day that goes by I feel I have what it takes to turn this country around and get it moving again. And that is what we badly need to do.

And here he is using hyperbole 8 million times more powerful than the hyperbole used on Hiroshima and Nagasaki:

Mr Cameron disclosed yesterday that the Conservative manifesto would be the most family-friendly ever and said that voters would know before the election what tax breaks he would offer married couples.

Though if you’re hoping that ‘family friendly’ here means building several new jails and filling them with classroom-disrupting hooligans and persistent child molesters, wife beaters and daughter sellers, sister-stranglers and those whose criminal lifestyles have raped any chances of childhood away from large chunks of each generation since the 1970s, and also to abolish the Local Education Authorities and breaking the Marxists’ and the producer-groups’ stranglehold on education and educational training and recruitment by giving the bulk of the spending power to parents, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

I visited my oldest friends at the weekend: lifelong Tory Party workers; former contributors, canvassers, fund-raisers and officials – folk who always laughed at my youthful libertarianism and boyish hopefulness in the power of freedom and market (almost) unaided to bring the good life to earth.
We’re talking suburban driveways with neat, inexpensive cars here. We’re talking life insurance policies and families eating together and going to football together. We’re talking cats, and pictures of cats. And ornaments shaped like cats with pictures of cats painted on them. We’re talking hardcore Telegraph and Daily Mail suburban Tories, from generations of the same and with adult children of the same attitudes and instincts worried for their own kids’ futures.

The base. The heart. Conservative England.

They’re voting UKIP.
Cameron’s not fooled them one little bit – they are the real thing and he’s not.

If folk like these aren’t going along with it, then Cameron’s years-long project of ‘broadening the appeal’ of the Tory Party’s broad church so widely that it’s stretched into the shallowness of a shadow, have been wasted, and all the sacrifices of his hollowing-out of conservative policy, principle and good name have been for nothing.

So when the day comes and the parliament hangs or a tiny majority is achieved despite the economic and social Armageddon that Labour has inflicted, perhaps Cameron’s successor or the Tory spin doctors ought to learn to fear being called a different set of epithets:

apostate, traitor, trimmer, cowardly, appeaser, liberal, Quisling, socialist, coward, unprincipled, dishonest, federast, bully.

Resistance 2: Fall of The Man?

Well, my UK Independence Party membership pack has finally arrived, complete with its top-secret cipher key to send clandestine anti-EU information to their ultra-high-tech underground headquarters in Newton Abbot - a name heavy with the grisly redolence of clandestine fanaticism and byzantine global webs of conspiracy well-funded by sinister military-industrial conglomerates and men in cardigans named Colin.

The covering letter explained that the delay in sending me the stuff was because under the Party’s constitution new members must not be recruited during leadership elections for obvious reasons and the person who posts out the membership packs was himself standing for the post of Grand Dragon and Supreme Arch-Pencil Monitor.

I’m sure I’ll be able to contribute something to the Party’s publicity activities for next year’s General Election and have ticked several volunteer boxes on the prepaid return card:

# Stuffing envelopes.

# Canvassing both of your best friends at the bowling green clubhouse.

# Leafleting council housing estates at 5 AM the day after Benefits Thursdays.

# Phoning the barmy granny who promised to vote for us just as long as Enoch said it would be okay. (And he did too. Enoch’s the best-spoken parrot I’ve ever trained.)

I’m not so sure about some of the other suggested activities, and there’s a box of matches and a very detailed plan of some large building with the word Reichstag crossed out and Louise Weiss Building written above it in green ink.

To complicate matters, it appears that the towering glory of the European Parliament has not one but two venues so there’s also a Michelin Guide map to the Espace LĆ©opold and the first four chapters torn from a distance-learning manual called Piloting the European Airbus for Fun and Prophet.

I’m definitely not going in for those two options - not with my back. But let’s face it, if they asked for a Vodka-Soused You Tube Heroic Last Stands Movie Montages Browser And Suicide Late-Night Amazon Cheesy War-Film DVD Shopper then by next summer my name would be as famous as…well, that chap who was entirely innocent of attacking the World Trade Centre despite what his martyrdom video, his father, his organisation and hundreds of thousands of cheering but offended moderate men, black-masked women and beardless youths dancing in the streets throughout the Middle East and Asia 11/12 September 2001 seemed to indicate, but which you never see on the BBC these days for some reason.

The lapel badge they’ve sent is the smallest party political badge I’ve ever seen in my life. I imagine that The Nazi Paedophile Kitten-Drowning Accordionist Front sports larger slogan buttons than UKIP. Still it’s quality schmutter, if tiny.

I also have a UKIP nom de guerre, which is Vangor the Vengeance-Wreaker which goes with my other aliases rather well. Of course when I’m at work or using my credit card I’m known by my true name, and when I’m describing the seedy, corrupt and criminal life of North Britain I go by North Northwester. When, on the other hand, I’m chronicling the lives and times of a galaxy-wide space civilisation I go by North N. Wester, and in the evenings and weekends and I let my hair down and relax with a few friends it’s Mistress Agonista, Queen of Pain.

Very soon I’ll have to email the local Party boss and offer my services under the name that’s written on my birth certificate.

And that’s the time I was really dreading: the point when I finally had to commit to actually doing something to persuade the residents of Castle City to come to their front doors and listen to the possibility of voting for someone other than The Statist Super-Taxing Federast Slushy Party - now available in four almost identical flavours: Mint, Raspberry, Banana and Blueberry.

All that time spent away from hearth and home and actual conservative thought and people with a discernible belief-system wisdom…to come home weary one hot Thursday evening to fall asleep exhausted and then awake to a Cameronian ‘Conservative’ victory and the knowledge that it had all been wasted and that nothing in the results would indicate to dim-bulb marginal Tory MPs that Callmedave’s Ted Heath deracinating corporatism 2.0 had been the final sellout and that they’d better damned well shape up and practice something actually resembling conservatism or else face electoral obliteration next time.

That would be the last nail in the coffin for national self-government, justice, genuine freedom and the possibility of honest administration in Britain for another generation.

But now…

David Cameron not taking election victory for granted

David Cameron has made it clear he is not taking an election victory for granted and slapped down a senior colleague for suggesting a Labour win would be better for Britain than the uncertainty of a hung parliament…. A new poll showed that Labour had cut the lead over the Conservatives to just six points, raising the prospect of no party being able to secure a majority at next year's general election.

Mr Cameron publicly disowned comments from Ken Clarke, his front bench colleague, for suggesting recently that a Labour win would be preferable to a hung parliament. The former chancellor and current shadow business secretary argued that at a time of grave economic difficulties the uncertainty it would create could be disastrous.

Bliss was it in that dawn to be alive,

But to be young was very heaven.
Works fine with ‘middle aged’, too.

Bring it on.

Yes. WE can.

There’s bad news, and then there’s good news.

OWENS TAKES ELECTION

23RD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: Hoffman admits defeat shortly after midnight DEMOCRAT'S SUPPORTERS GLEEFUL: Conservative candidate's backers stunned to see him concede

By NANCY MADSEN

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2009

For the first time since the mid-19th century, a Democrat will represent Northern New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

William L. Owens, the Democratic and Working Families candidate for the 23rd Congressional District special election, won a tight race Tuesday night.

Mr. Owens garnered 61,666 votes, or 49 percent, with 90 percent of the precincts reporting at 1 a.m. Conservative candidate Douglas L. Hoffman came in with 57,073 votes, or 45 percent. Republican candidate Dierdre K. Scozzafava, who dropped out Saturday, had 6,976 votes, or 6 percent.

The local Republicans put a wringing wet liberal up for their candidate and she quit in ignominy and then endorsed the official party of the Left, and then the candidate of the Conservative Party of New York for crying out loud was the third party candidate and he earned 45% of the vote.

Get that? The establishment party of the Right quit; scattered and unloved because they put a deep-down Leftie up for their supporters to crown, but all the GOP supporters bar a few utterly faithful ones voted for someone who stood up and said what he believed in and he connected with the electorate and he gathered in a coltish 45. The CPNY isn’t even the third party in the USA, nor the fourth.

The Republican Party has been one of the natural parties of government in the USA since anti-slavery became the big issue of the day.

The Democrats grew out of the American Revolution itself. And it won with a four percent majority. Four percent. Whatever their platforms, those two parties are twin colossi; eclipsing all other parties by orders of magnitude.

The Conservative Party of New York? The Freedom Party of Basingstoke? The Tory Party (Provisional) of Kensington and Chelsea? The Tooting Popular Front? Finchley Crusaders?

We have nationwide freedom-loving parties of the Right in this country, and there is talk of more on the way. I’ve been a bit of a wet blanket over here at James’ place, (partly because of the strange cul-de-sac that my suburban odyssey has brought me to perhaps), and the bickering isn’t always good-natured, but still and all, if the American freedom movement can mount a damn close-run thing at the height of their Gramscian Left’s glory, there’s hope too for the two-and-a-half freedom-loving and patriotic parties of the Right to hurt the equally hollowed-out ‘Conservative’ Party here in the UK.

It’s already begun to dig deep locally in England, and there’s no reason, even with our comparable first past the post system, not to hope for both revenge on the caponservatives in the short term, and for actual representation in the medium to long term.

"When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle."

Now, where did I put my combinations?
