Private Jones-716
No post from me yesterday as I was travelling down to stay in the capital city of my ancestral homeland – a city that even to today is kept remarkably clear of Zulus.
I was a little surprised that it was not awash with camp Cybermen and extremely well dressed bachelors. Can it be that the BBC has somehow given a false impression of something? Surely not. Such a thing’s just not possible.
And then on to a tourist trap culturally parallel to an Ewok’s bottom to meet Tiny Northwester…Who is now rapidly making it plain that she is in fact merely Small Northwester. Who knows where the time goes? Fatherly heartbreak.
Little bit of politics, but Small Northwester’s mother and stepfather seemed utterly convinced that David Cameron is the bee’s knees (I prefer a canine metaphor, as you will know, without “dog’s”) and will set the country to rights. The Mark One Mrs Northwester, utterly certain that we need Mrs. Thatcher back, enthused about Davey Boy as if he was the Once and Future King, risen from his Avalonian tomb to deliver Britain at its hour of greatest need. Now Mk 1 Mrs. N is no fool, and her husband is a smart cookie, and so I was pretty much dumfounded by this. I know that country-dwellers have a reputation for, um, no-frills thinking, but even Wordsworth sussed out the French Revolution eventually.
Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, or what comes from reading The Times these days, or perhaps it’s that they don’t have the internet up there is the hill country and so they absorb their factoids from the MSM only. Wanting Mk 1 Mrs. N to be right, and knowing that she’s not is not exactly a new experience to me, but I never thought the government of the country would be so plain and glaring a subject of disagreement. But that’s the joy of divorce – the longer you’re divorced, the smarter you know you’ve been. I’m sure she thinks the same thing too.
The central premise of House of Dumb (essential reading for conservatives who would rather not make great big silly kippers of themselves) is that really quite clever people can manage to act stupidly according to daft levels of reality-denial and wishful thinking. Conservatives aren’t immune.
Thank the Lord she does believe in safe breaking distances and buying big, chunky, safe cars.
So it’s back to the land of whippets and ferret-juggling ex-mill workers for me today, through bank holiday weekend rain and traffic, and so to a proper-sized computer for my clumsy paws to rant on, rather than this borrowed laptop.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend, and with a bit of luck my online pessimism won’t spoil it at all.
Front rank, fire!

Die, Nazi cows!
It's a toss-up between the self-absorption, the triviality, and the willful ignorance of the modern Left towards matters of nationality and race as to which is the most harmful and offensive to our way of life. Here's what some of the self-serving blowhards have been doing to make our national life safer and more peaceful.
Complaints that a milk advert was racist because it showed a white bull getting "purer" by losing its black patches have been dismissed by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
Yes ladies and gentlemen: in a country where immigrant gangs preside over a crime wave in ourinner cities, some of whom are now being recruited by those diverse 'British citizens' who march the streets under banners saying 'Death to the Jews' and who support our soldiers' enemies, a cartoon cow is the harbinger of Holocaust Regained.
The cartoon campaign for Cravendale milk prompted 11 complaints, 10 against a television advert and another about a magazine advert.
The ASA did not uphold the complaints, saying viewers were unlikely to see the adverts as racist so widespread serious offence was unlikely.
The ruling said: "The cows were intended as a visual metaphor for milk which underwent extra filtration processes.
"We considered viewers were likely to understand that the black and white bulls in the ads were intended as a metaphor for milk and were unlikely to interpret the visual representations of the purification process as being racist.
During the television advert an animated bull was shown visiting a milk bar. It appeared angry and demanded milk, drinking every bottle. It was then sent down a chute to the Cravendale purity room were its black patches were gradually removed and it passed signs saying "pure" and "purer".
The magazine advert showed a picture of a black and white cow next to the phrase "fresh milk". A sieve was shown below and underneath that was a white cow, alongside the text "only purer".
Additional text below said: "Cravendale is purified to remove the bacteria that turns milk sour. So you get a clean, fresh tasting milk."
Oh my God! Scramble RAF Bomber Command, call out the Platoon of Guards and signal both vessels of the mighty Royal Navy to get steam up against the imminent threat of Operation Sea Lion.
Now this is no longer tactical.
This isn't just the Far Left creating a febrile atmosphere in which any expression of doubt about the matchless loveliness of immigration is beyond the pale, and so only the Left gets to discuss nationality in the hopes of latter-day Weimar-style rioting between them and the National Front. This isn't just the Labour Party in the 1960s using memories of Hitler and Mosley to intimidate the Conservatives from discussing Pakistan and New Commonwealth settlement here. This is the culture, stupid.
This is the third generation since Enoch Powell's expulsion from the Shadow Cabinet and it's now standard operating practise for some of the Left - anyone in the Left - to keep the pot boiling. It's pretty much all they can do now that their economics have been shot to hell by decades of comparisons between the centrally-controlled and free economies.
But this instinct is dangerous because those Islamists who preach jihad; their gangs of converts; and the immigrant criminal gangs aren't going to go away. They are going to go on becoming more numerous and more powerful and they will continue to be protected by the kind of reflex action to witch-hunt 'racism' wherever it might be concocted - no matter how absurdly. People are already dying but it's all but illegal to speak of it.
Anti-racism has tried to infect even the 'voluntary sector' such as the Advertising Standards Agency - whose 'voluntary' financing from advertising sales prevents the ever-more invasive State from taking much closer and ever more prescriptive control of the industry. So much so that someone thought it worthwhile to use the ASA to trump up the semblance of white supremacism at Arla Foods of Leeds.
Think of the huge pretension that this represents. The massive self-centredness of people who think it's acceptable to counterfeit rage at (or who are deluded enough to actually believe in the existence of) Nazi dairymen bespeaks the triviality and obsession of large parts of this country. It's just fine and dandy to use up all those resources and to divert time from an organization that is intended to punish manufacturers who say that cigarettes contain vitamins or that their aftershave attracts women to everyone who wears it in order to fight off non-existent Nazi hordes.
What point is there any more in standing by a political class (including the 'Conservatives') which goes along with this enthusiastically; that lets the race-hustlers and the victim-herds rule over us: who stop our mouths with curses and slanders, and who prevent the issues that might save the lives of people of all races from ever being discussed?
And many people have got the point.
We are mostly sober, decent(-ish in my case), law-abiding people who mean no harm to anyone. Our hearts aren't full of hatred for 'The Other', nor dreams of conquest, nor spiffy uniforms, nor shattered glass and beer-house brawling. We fear for our children's futures and for our own safety and yet as we watch our legislators troughing on the very best in life that we taxpayers can provide whilst we walk our own streets fearfully in some places (if at all) we know that any discussion, any mention of nationality and immigration will be met from all quarters with slanders and libels and abuse.
Tell me all you of the political-class of MPs and Westminster, Whitehall and Brussels insiders, if you're going to accuse any of racism at the first breath of criticism of your rainbow land, then why shouldn't we be hung for a Nazi cow as for a racist lamb?
And why shouldn't we hang you out to dry come June on the rope that we paid for but which you stole?

Do you wanna be in my gang?
From The Telegraph
David Cameron, the Conservative leader, has warned that a Tory government would not introduce tax cuts during the recession.
You know, I think that Mister Cameron might be missing an important a point here and I ought to set him right.
Admitting that his words would disappoint many within the party, Mr Cameron insisted that the economic circumstances were not right for tax cuts in the immediate future, and said that his focus as prime minister would be on restoring confidence.
The warning came in an interview with the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, in which he attacked Gordon Brown's handling of the downturn and described
Asked if voters should expect an incoming Tory administration to slash public spending and introduce tax cuts, he said: "That's not what they should be thinking.
How to phrase it?
"They should be thinking this would be a responsible government that would make government live within its means, that would relieve some of the debt burden being piled up on our children.''
Mr Cameron refused to rule out tax increases after the election, saying it was a "very difficult question".
Vowing to rein back public spending in order to lower debt, he criticised recent Government measures, in particular last month's VAT reduction, saying: ``VAT cut - foolish. It hasn't worked. Long term, also foolish, because it will add to the national debt.
Got it.
Look, we’re the British people, yeah?- and we’re sitting on the offside window seat of the bus, right at the back. Now, Mister Brown is sitting next to us and blocking us in so we can’t get out and he keeps on touching us Down There.
Well, you’re the Leader of the Conservative party and it's like, kind of not your job to give us lip gloss and cigarettes and mobile phones and to offer us contraceptive advice, okay? You’re not supposed to tell us we look really pretty with our pigtails and ask us to be nice to the poor old gentleman who only has one eye. As Leader of the Opposition, right, you’re kind of like our dad, see, and it’s more your job to drag Mister Brown off the bus and maybe put his other eye out and to kick his pills to far up inside him that he’ll be gargling scrotal tissue for a month, right?
Point made?
Meanwhile, Mr Cameron refused to comment on reports that he was poised to move Kenneth Clarke, the former Chancellor, back to the front bench, as senior figures within the party warned that the return of the leading pro-European would prove divisive.
Oh and don’t promise us that if we’re good and stay on the bus right to the end you’ll take us to see that nice Mister Glitter. Just don’t, okay; it’s not at all comforting.

I have a dream
I’ve decided not to swear much online, but a chap has to do something or else the anger just builds up and builds up and fills his world until he finds himself on top of a church steeple or some other tall building; stark naked and with nothing for company but a high-powered sniper’s rifle, some fondue forks, a deep-fat fryer and a cage full of hamsters.
I have a dream that one day it will be better.
One day; just for one day, I’d like to live through that day and not go to bed thinking that - spiritually at least – I can feel the cooling trickle of Gordon Brown’s genetic code darkening the seat of my pyjama pants.
One day; just for one day I’d like to think that the Conservatives, the heirs of Disraeli, Churchill and Thatcher might have a clue; perhaps clue enough to oppose the man and the party that have bankrupted Britain and who mean to do so much more to harm the car boot sale of its surviving economy, and that their top leaders would show enough gumption, enough nous (and this is the leaders of a party whose basic, fundamental, simple-to-understand philosophy means ‘step away from the really, really stupid stuff that always hurts and use the things that you can see actually working) to pin some kind of blame on him and to promise without apologizing to do something different and stick to it, rather than giving the impression that they’d be more gainfully employed fellating farmyard animals on late night reality TV.
One day; just for one day in what’s left of 2008 or even in all of 2009 (I’m a patient person), I’d like to see someone very senior and who owns part of the government’s responsibility to protect us from violent mass murder and who controls one department or another whose budget runs into the billions recognise that an ideology exists whose thirteen-hundred year mission from God is to subjugate all of mankind into complete and unbroken obedience, and I'd like to see him acknowledge the idea that during those thirteen centuries of war and oppression, no powerful group or sect within Islam has sustained anything but minor modifications on the universal suppression thing, and that petro-dollar-rich death-cult fantasists are not exactly the same as falafel-eating ecumenical Anglicans would be, and that such a minister or official might adjust defence or security policy to acknowledge that situation in some kind of co-ordinated and, yes, sustainable way that is not girded around with apologies for the cultural insensitivities that might taint or characterize any government action intended to avoid getting some of the rest of us killed.
One day; just for one day I’d like to see one influential part of the multi-billion pound Welfare State actually perform one simple task with consistency and without making things worse, such as protecting a child who for whatever reasons (and let’s not be ungentlemanly here and blame, oh, to pick a scapegoat totally at random say "the Left") appears to have briefly lived in a man-made hell on earth.
I’m not saying that I expect such an organisation to have anything useful to say about how such a hell was created in the first place despite the oceans of money that have been spent over past decades to improve the lot of the poor, or how or even whether such a hell might be modified let alone abolished (one must be realistic, after all; wide-screen TVs with a hundred satellite channels in every hovel in the land is a sustainable and desirable ecological goal, but wiping chocolate off a sick child to check for injuries is just a science fiction pipe-dream). I'd just like to see that someone not yet sacked from such an organisation who might commit to and actually bring about some kind of change from previous cluster-related official behaviour that allows such satanic evil to perpetuate itself, decade after decade unchecked and unchallenged. Just for one day I’d like the senior officials of the welfare state behave as if they were the ultimate, court-of-last-resort protectors of childhood rather than acting as if they're merely the proximate sources of childbirth.
