Dell has fixed and returned my PC in usable form on the fourth day.
I know you all want me to use Macs or Unix or something, but all I ever did in my IT Helpdesk at the Great North-western ISP days was to fix Windows mail clients and broadband and explain the difference between computers and microwave ovens and I don't do hardware.
However, at considerable cost but after that very short time I can now blog once more from my luxury penthouse suite between Castle City's highest council estate and its hilliest housing association tract and return to the fight against the International Islamist Threat with freshness and confidence.
Meanwhile, we all need a laugh, so why not pop over to Beware of Geeks and follow his link to the London Underground Song - which is like the Daily Mash with crotchets and quavers.
And if you don't know what a crotchet is, then you haven't run on a hot summer's day in tight trousers.

Glad your PC is fixed NNW!
I have around 6 Dells here in the office and so far they have been reasonably well behaved.
Have leased one of them in the hope that this may prove beneficial in terms of upgrading but sadly you cannot upgrade at will - minimum 2 years or pay the fixed lease term cost.
Always been a believer of buying workstations and servers in the past but their performance is increasing at an exponential rate and their costs are lower, so leasing has its appeal, albeit not quite as flexible as it seems.
(Ta for the link btw!)
Leasing sounds fun,and I plain hadn't considered it. All my techie friends are ubergeeks and build as well as own their own gear, but for a former Windowscleaner with no hardware skills beyond the on/off switch, maybe I should look to leasing when Expensiveac finally goes to the great tech skip in the sky.
And just keep those jokes coming - they're trying to bury Labour's rout under piles of sound bites again.
