Gobble! Gobble! 13th December it is!

Who could be wiser even than me?

And yeast? And Betamax enthusiasts?

It seems that some of the Rabbis of North West London are opposed to a group which is itself opposed to the political and cultural triumph of Islam.

Yes, that Islam.

Ladiezz an’ gennermen, I give you live (still) from Harrow way down south in Norf West Landan: the Amazing Intelligent Rabbis.

Rabbis attack Harrow anti-Muslim campaign

Leading community members in Harrow have condemned anti-Muslim campaigners planning a protest in the borough this weekend.

A letter signed by rabbis Aaron Goldstein, Hillel Athias-Robles, Kathleen Middleton, Frank Dabba Smith, and Michael Hilton has offered support for the borough's Muslims.

In an attack on “those whose only purpose is to spread hatred and fear”, they wrote: “We share the desire of the Muslim community of Harrow to respect our mutual traditions, to learn from each other's cultures and ways of life, and to live together in peace.”

The rabbis represent Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, Middlesex New Synagogue, Harrow and Wembley Progressive Synagogue, and Kol Chai Hatch End Jewish Community.

The group, Stop Islamisation of Europe, is planning a protest outside the mosque in Station Road on Sunday.

The show of unity from the Jewish community is in defiance of a website appeal by SIOE for 1,000 Jews carrying the Israeli flag to turn up.

If you think that Stop The Islamification Of Europe is racist/fascist/Nazi, then you can look here and make up your own mind - about their public face at least.

You don’t have to have read either or both of the Left’s prescribed books to realise how Nazi anti-Semitism arose on the streets of Germany, and so I can see how Jewish groups might not want ethnic-based politics anywhere near their homes. Fair enough; it could be (you should excuse the expression) a genie they don’t want let out of the lamp. It would also make sense if standing up against SIOE(UK) allowed or encouraged local ‘moderate Muslims’ to feel secure; happy about their Jewish neighbours; and encouraged to stand up in turn against their own ‘extremists.’ Question; does anyone out there capable of using formal polysyllables believe that this is a likely result?

I don’t know what the Yiddlish expression for as asinine as an ant at an aardvark assembly is, but this lot deserve it.

This, however, seems to be yet another case when mainstream Jewish bodies cast their eyes humbly away from the bedrock anti-Semitism at the core of Islam, and risk encouraging that vile aspect of the ideology that threatens us all.

Here, for example, is freedom of speech hero Ezra Levant on Canadian ‘official’ Jews supporting a Muslim anti-Semite:

Last week, I pointed out that Calgary's Official Jews invited notorious anti-Semites to co-sponsor a Jewish rally against anti-Semitism.

I know, it sounds too strange to be true. But it is.

One of those Jew-haters is Syed Soharwardy, a vicious, anti-Semitic bigot who trivializes the Jewish Holocaust, spreads blood libels against the Jewish Talmud, says Israel is perpetrating a Holocaust of its own against Palestinians, publicly calls for sharia law to be implemented in Canada, and participated in a pro-terrorist rally in the Jewish neighbourhood of Calgary, replete with a flag of Hezbollah.

I first came to know this odious man up close, when he hauled me before the Alberta human rights commission for publishing the Danish cartoons of Mohammed. Before that, the little thug actually tried to have me arrested by the Calgary Police Service for publishing those cartoons, as if we were back in his beloved Saudi Arabia, where the police take care of the infidels.

Syed Soharwardy is anti-Semitic scum.

Calgary's Official Jews freaked out when I publicized the words and deeds of this bigot, because they had so publicly cast their lot in with him. Some of the OJs wrote public comments on on my blog, and others wrote to me directly. All of their comments were the same, in that they ignored Soharwardy's anti-Semitism, and instead railed against me for my criticisms. In other words, they weren't embarrassed that they were friends with Soharwardy. They were embarrassed that they were caught.

In the face of growing anti-Semitic violence such as this, and this little beauty, and this from the States, and you get the likes of Melanie Phillips having to admit that the officials are cowardly or absent altogether even in defence of Israel’s right to exist.

The officials seem to be clueless as to where this Islamic anti-Semitism comes from.

If only there were some kind of mechanical contraption that could provide speedy access to information from outside the narrow information sources shared by the mainstream media! It would be marvellous if dissenting information could thus be made available worldwide – and including to the Jewish leaders of Harrow.

Here are a couple of pieces that might create the tiniest possibility of the chance of clue potential appearing inside those brilliant, brilliant minds of Harrow.

By the late seventh century, and certainly by the eighth, Islamic ideas began to penetrate Europe, where they had a profound influence. European Christians, for example, began to think, for the first time, in terms of “Holy War,” an idea that would have been unthinkable in earlier centuries. There is strong circumstantial evidence that they began also to influence European thinking about the Jews.

Anti-Semitism of course preceded the rise of both Christianity and Islam; and Christianity itself had a long history of antagonism towards Jews well before the appearance of Islam. The antagonism was mutual, and Jewish leaders were in the early centuries as vociferous in their condemnation of Christianity as Christian leaders were of Judaism. Serious violence between the two groups was, however, uncommon; and the first real pogrom launched by Christians against the Jews in Europe did not happen until the beginning of the First Crusade, in 1096. But this was not the first pogrom against Jews in Europe; an event which occurred in Cordoba in Spain in 1011. This was followed by another outbreak of mass-murder in Granada in 1066. Neither massacre was carried out by Christians, however, but by Muslims.

And

Anti-Semitism in the Islamic world has often been attributed to the baneful influence of Christianity. Many analysts assert that the Islamic designation of Jews (as well as Christians) as “People of the Book” indicates a higher level of respect for them than was manifested by Christians who derided Jews as bestial “Christ-killers.” Journalist Lawrence Wright asserts in this vein in The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11:

Until the end of World War II … Jews lived safely—although submissively—under Muslim rule for 1,200 years, enjoying full religious freedom; but in the 1930s, Nazi propaganda on Arabic-language shortwave radio, coupled with slanders by Christian missionaries in the region, infected the area with this ancient Western prejudice [anti-Semitism]. After the war, Cairo became a sanctuary for Nazis, who advised the military and the government. The rise of the Islamist movement coincided with the decline of fascism, but they overlapped in Egypt, and the germ passed into a new carrier.

This is a common view, but in reality there is a strong native strain of anti-Semitism in Islam, which is rooted in the Qur’an. The Muslim holy book contains a great deal of material that forms the foundation for a hatred of Jews that exists independently of the Christian variety. It is also, in many ways, more virulent and harder to eradicate. The Qur’an portrays the Jews as the craftiest, most persistent, and most implacable enemies of the Muslims—and there is no Muslim equivalent of the Second Vatican Council to mitigate against destructive interpretations. The Qur’anic material on the Jews remains the prism through which far too many Muslims see the Israeli-Palestinian conflict—and Jews in general—to this day.

It’s complex, it’s long, and it’s – what’s the expression?- nuanced. But it’s a thousand times more clued in than the Jews of Harrow, who do remind me of mice protesting against the speying of feral cats, and who seem to see only people demonstrating on their streets as a threat – and not, perhaps, part of the salvation that we all need.

And that includes the heroic majority of Muslims who aren’t interested at all in changing our country into a hell-hole of Middle Eastern corruption and cruelty.
