Hasta la vista, Blighty

Dumb Jon points out the aching beauty and lambent brilliance of the present government’s plans for charitable giving. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that Jon’s love affair with the Cameron Tory Party is losing some of its former warmth and lustre.

One or two small points to add regarding the original Telegraph article.
Banks are to adopt a system that allows people to make a small donation to charity whenever they withdraw cash…Ministers will begin talks with banks in the new year over how the scheme, which operates in Colombia and Mexico, might work.

So that’s a big plus to add to the Tory Manifesto of 2014:
“Coalition Britain: every bit as good as Columbia and Mexico.”

And later the cherry on top:
Mr Maude said the Coalition was not trying to “compel” people to give. But he unveiled two schemes that would offer taxpayers’ money to match private donations.

Because what this country now needs, more than ever before, is extra taxpayers’ money being spent on what some of us think as a good idea. I mean, the economy can take it, can’t it?

This government seems determined to go one better than the last one before it implodes under the strain...
