The last straw
The final nail in the coffin of the party of Disraeli, Churchill and Thatcher.
Dumb Jon watches unamazed as the last "I" is dotted on the left-liberals' triumph over our parliamentary party system: they now have the full set. Short of actually declaring a republic or abolishing the Pound, it's difficult to see how the Tory Party could divorce itself further or more spectacularly from its supporters, its ancient principles and its long-standing dreams of ever halting or reversing the leftward stampede of Britain into collectivism, corruption, chaos - and the tyranny that will inevitably follow.
I have a piece of advice for those contemplating voting for Labour to punish the unbeliever who gave Alan Duncan his job and this opportunity to punish the law-abiding in perpetuity: please don't do it.
Much as it might seem right to let Cameron be replaced post haste after a small Labour victory (and if very small, just you watch how fast they'll go in for proportional representation and an end to any chance of inter-party competition, i.e. democracy), that wouldn't necessarily cure the Tory party of its left-liberal electoral fantasy. Indeed, a modest Labour majority might 'prove' to the EU-light bulbs on the new Tory Opposition benches and the metrocrats at HQ that the Conservatives had lost becasue they weren't nearly enough like Labour, and hence that they should be led by someone even better... Nobody was ever disappointed by underestimating the intelligence of the average Conservative MP or PPC, and that goes doubled squared for the hard-core Wets..
No, it should be UKIP; just to show to the apostates who now own that once great party what kind of issues and what kind of policies they have abandoned in favour of their new-fangled hope of an occasional seat of honour in the hot-tub with all the other big government, internationalist, high taxing and rule of law eroding socialists and liberals. If they are too stupid or inward-looking to offer us an alternative, then we have to show them what they failed to offer the country and make it good and plain that it wasn't yet more liberalism.
Picture from here.

Oh, I wouldn't bet against them on that!
In fact, perhaps their slavish support for the EU might do it, in light of this?
The Cameron-Clarkes are going further down the gurgler. The latest Tory poll shows that they are out of step with the party.
Julia, I love this from your Daily Mail link: " 'a parent caring for the child of a migrant worker who is in education in the host member state has a right of residence in that state'.
'That right is not conditional on the parent having sufficient resources not to become a burden on the social assistance system.'"
The Romans used to settle their discharged military veterans in provinces far from their own national origins to keep any restless natives in line by reporting on them and by diluting local nationalisms. Seems like the EU's following its Roman origins to the T.
James.
"The latest Tory poll shows that they are out of step with the party." I suppose Stalin was out of step with grass roots Bolsheviks after Lenin died - but who had the power and used it for what? Like all dictators and freedom-haters everywhere, the peoples' opinion are at best useful things to manage for a show of support or, in this case, to be ignored and perhaps derided. How well Cameron fits in with modern fascist Britain.
And with a hung parliament likely, here comes proportional representation and centre-left fascist rule forever.
True words, NNWer.
